FAQ

Everything customers ask us most often about ordering, sizing, shipping and caring for handmade sterling silver jewelry from Ether Eleven. If your question is not answered here, contact us and we will answer it directly.

Orders and production

Are your pieces made to order?

Most of them, yes. We keep a small amount of finished stock, but the majority of Ether Eleven jewelry is cast to order in Los Angeles. The pieces we can guarantee are available immediately are the ones in our Ready to Ship section.

How long does an order take to ship?

Two to four weeks for a made to order piece, depending on complexity. Custom-cut stones and special settings take the longest. Ready to Ship items go out far faster because they are already finished and sitting in the studio.

What if my ring size is not listed?

We can make it. Every batch is cast to order, so sizes outside the listed range are usually possible within the same two to four week window. Print our ring sizer to find your size, then contact us before ordering.

Do you take custom commissions?

Yes, both modifications and entirely new designs. Modifying one of our existing pieces is quick and inexpensive. A fully custom design with some complexity usually starts around $500 and goes up from there. We charge by the hour plus the cost of the piece itself, so the final figure depends on the design and the materials.

Can I request a different finish?

Yes. Most of our work wears an oxidized finish, but we can make almost any design in a polished or alternative finish on request. Ask before ordering and we will confirm what is possible for that specific piece.

Our skull rings

What makes Ether Eleven skull rings different?

Every skull ring we make begins as an original 3D sculpt in our own studio rather than a bought or copied model. That is why our range runs from the anatomical to the geometric to the architectural: sacred geometry engraving on the Cosmic and Sultan skulls, faceted low poly planes on the Quantum skull, stepped Art Deco forms on Metropolis, and a crown of Gothic cathedral spires on the Goth King. Each one is printed in resin for evaluation, cast in solid .925 sterling silver by the lost wax method, and finished by hand in Los Angeles. Three designs pair the silver skull with a separate stackable jaw ring in solid 10K gold.

You can see the full range on our sterling silver skull rings page.

Materials

Is your jewelry solid sterling silver?

Yes, with no exceptions. Every metal piece is solid .925 sterling silver, cast whole. Nothing we sell is plated.

Can I order a piece in gold?

Yes. Any of our designs can be custom ordered in solid gold. Pricing depends on the gold market at the time of the order, so contact us for a current quote.

Are the stones natural?

Yes. All stones on our beaded bracelets are natural.

Do pendants come with a chain?

Our large pendants ship on a 30 inch chain, and that chain is included in the listed price. Smaller pendants ship on an adjustable leather cord. The chain or cord for each piece is listed in its product details.

Shipping

Where do you ship?

Anywhere the United States can legally ship to.

Which carriers do you use?

USPS for domestic orders and DHL for international. Some pieces ship via FedEx instead, depending on the destination and the value of the piece.

Is shipping insured?

Jewelry is insured up to $500. A signature on delivery is available on request.

Who pays customs duties on international orders?

The customer. Any duties, taxes or customs charges applied by the destination country are the buyer’s responsibility and are not included in the price of the piece or in the shipping cost.

Do you offer gift packaging?

Yes. We can include a gift bag on request. Add a note with your order or contact us after ordering.

What does an order arrive in?

A high-end Ether Eleven black slide-out jewelry box.

Returns, exchanges and repairs

Can I return a piece?

Returns must be started within one week of delivery. After that window, what is possible depends on how the piece was made.

  • Ready to Ship items from our existing inventory can be returned for a full refund.
  • Made to order pieces can be returned for store credit.
  • Custom pieces cannot be returned, because they were made specifically for you.

Who pays return shipping?

The customer, on all returns.

Can you resize a ring after I have bought it?

Yes. We will resize up to half a size at no charge. You cover the shipping.

What if something is wrong with my piece?

We do not offer a written warranty, but we want every customer to be happy with what they receive. If there is a manufacturing defect, tell us and we will address it or offer a solution.

Care

Will the oxidized finish wear off?

Some of it will, and that is by design. Oxidation is a deliberate darkening that settles into the recessed and pitted parts of a piece. Over time the raised surfaces polish bright with wear while the recesses stay dark, which is what gives an oxidized piece its depth. To keep the finish as long as possible, do not wash your jewelry and do not wear it at the beach.

Full instructions are on our care and sizing page.
